How can I list my house for sale and save on agent fees?
Unless you decide to go the FSBO route, the first step to listing your house for sale is to find a local and licensed real estate agent that you believe will do a good job representing your home.
Agents being interviewed will perform a competitive market analysis (known as CMA) for the home you’re selling. This analysis will let you know what your home is worth now, as well as what it could be worth with some renovations.
After you decide which, if any, renovations you’d like to have done, you’ll then agree to list a home with a particular agent. Many sellers now prefer to list with companies like Listwizer so they can save on listing commissions for the exact same service.
Agents will then help you take professional photos for the MLS, stage the house, or host interested buyers in showings or open houses. Remember, only licensed real estate agents will have access to the MLS, but once your property is ready, an agent can list it on the MLS almost immediately.
Before you list your house, remember to put in a little work on the front-end and enhance its curb appeal by making cosmetic and functional repairs.
